The team here at Presagis is about to officially launch VELOCITY 5D (V5D) – an entire infrastructure offering our clients the next generation of high-tech tools and platforms.
The V5D platform delivers the ultimate flexibility to rapidly create and manage geospatial 3D digital twins by transforming GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data into rich, multispectral environments. The result is a digital twin that delivers something beyond area, space, and time – it delivers the fifth dimension: context.
A cloud-based infrastructure
As companies are increasingly amassing colossal amounts of data every hour in different forms, their capacity to analyze and categorize them is waning. As a result, we turned to the computing capability of the cloud, not only to help manage this gigantic influx of complex data expediently, but also to give clients the ability to manipulate them in real time, thus increasing performance and productivity.
As any software developer can attest, digital transformation is essential to business operations and expansion. For Presagis, significant change was needed to move from the development of license-based software to pay-per-use cloud-based solutions; it required a mind-set shift in the engineering team. Additionally, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for high volume data consumption made it imperative for the organization to shift its focus and strategic vision towards new, more flexible platforms enabling automation and scalability.
A shift in our team
Change management is part of any successful digital transformation and as a company we had to pivot to accomplish this goal. We found new ways of working with our existing engineering team, while bringing in new competencies and partners who would fit with where we wanted to go. Throughout this transformation, we ensured that our trusted work ethic and culture were at the heart of our efforts.
We analyzed current team competencies and did an inventory of missing skillsets. Once we understood our gaps, we began the recruitment process to bring in the required missing expertise, pairing it with our existing SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) in modelling and simulation.
It was important for us to not only focus on technical skills, but also on soft skills such as teamwork, collaboration, agility, and knowledge sharing, which we believe are key to creating high performance teams. Our new engineering department, which includes cloud developers, cybersecurity and AI experts, DevOps specialists and infrastructure architects, coalesced through a world pandemic by finding new ways of working together. The team has been built in a way that every member can learn from, and teach, each other…and the excitement is infectious.
This team reorganization has brought additional expert talent to Presagis, as well as new processes and methods of working. It was exciting to see how the team came together and embraced new SMEs who brought new tools to the table. With new DevOps processes of continuous integration and continuous deployment, this acceleration of skillsets is removing obstacles and propelling the company to new heights.
VELOCITY 5D is ready to take off
Presagis will launch V5D in the next few weeks. Our teams have been working tirelessly to bring this product to market and are very excited to help our clients process the enormous amounts of data they have on hand, faster and better.
We’ve invested many hours focusing and working on the security aspects of the platform – now ingrained in our system architecture. One of the most important factors for us was to ensure that the architecture for V5D was exceptionally secure, while using the latest technology available in cybersecurity and using GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) compliance at the core.
At Presagis, we are very excited to present V5D to the world as the culmination of years of hard work and teamwork. The launch of this platform demonstrates that when the vision and strategy come together with passion, support, and embracing new ways of working, everything is possible.
