Presagis Joins Humanitas Solutions to Develop Innovative Emergency Response Ecosystem

October 25th 2018

October 24, 2018 – Montreal, Canada – Presagis™, a recognized leader in simulation solutions, announced today its participation in a project with Humanitas Solutions to develop an intelligent mixed-reality simulation and training ecosystem for responders working in extreme environments, such as the frontlines of a natural disaster.

The Intelligent mixed-reality Simulation and training ecosystem for Extreme Environments (I.SEE) project is led by Humanitas Solutions, a Montreal-based IT organization focused on developing innovative solutions to assist first responders. Supported by the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Québec (CRIAQ), PROMPT, and the Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation, Presagis joins an impressive group of companies and institutions, including CAE, Thales Canada, Synopsys, and Elisen & Associés. The academic sector also plays a strong role in the project with Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal, HEC Montréal, Concordia University and McGill University joining forces for the development of hyper-realistic and fully immersive virtual experiences. The Humanitas project team will use the latest artificial intelligence-based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology to enhance crisis response, management, training, and data analysis.

“Presagis is eagerly looking forward to leveraging our technology and solutions to support the creation of dynamic 3D virtual environments. We will rely on our expertise in artificial intelligence and in creating deep learning and data analytics algorithms to exploit the huge amount of GIS data produced by UAV‐based sensors. The result will be 3D environments that act as a real-time cornerstone for crisis response operations,” said Jean-Michel Brière, General Manager of Presagis.

“We are delighted to have Presagis as a partner in this project. We need to model the environment where crisis responders will operate, and these virtual environments will be generated from information gathered from drones and the Internet of Things. Presagis is ideally positioned to support us in developing these solutions,” explains Dr. Abdo Shabah, founder and CEO of Humanitas.

Presagis will provide modelling and simulation software and will assist in leveraging the use of artificial intelligence and deep learning to extract and exploit field collected geo-located information. These extremely large amounts of data can be automatically fused in order to create highly accurate, simulation-ready 3D virtual environments.

“The people of Presagis are proud to be part of the Humanitas project,” adds Brière, “using our technology to help responders work more effectively in some of the planet’s harshest environments is an honor – but helping create a better world is a privilege.”
