Flight Simulation

The process of developing flight simulation is time-consuming and complex.  A key challenge is the myriad of flight simulations that exist (including High Altitude Flight, Fast Jet Simulation, Low Altitude Flight, Helicopter, UAV, Low Altitude, and Slow Flight) and their individual, unique requirements.

Presagis tools have reduced the cost of new development, have made it easy for us to develop new T3SIM functionalities, and have helped us to get these functionalities to our customers sooner. Since we needed COTS products that could help us to develop both cockpit instruments and scenarios, it just made sense to choose a single provider for both applications. Challenges & Trends

Adding to the complexity and expense are the technology components required to deliver a successful flight simulator.  A typical flight simulation will integrate high performance hardware, high fidelity aerodynamics flight simulation, interoperability in a heterogeneous environment, large database management, multiple displays, sensor views and/or emulated camera views, virtual HMI management for prototyping, among other technology components.

It is therefore critical that technology be available that will help simplify and streamline the development process - rather than hinder timely delivery of the application resulting in increased financial investment in the project.

The Solution

Presagis provides a complete COTS software solution for the development of real-time flight simulation applications.

Using Presagis software products as part of Aeria, an integrated workflow environment, can:

  • Greatly reduce development times.
  • Allow for the rapid creation, and modification, of application prototypes.
  • Offer the ability to "mix and match" features and level of fidelity sets that are required to deliver the functionality necessary for individual components of the simulation.

More specifically, the use of Presagis Visualization (Vega Prime), Simulation (STAGE Scenario and FlightSIM) and Human Machine Interface software (VAPS XT) greatly increases the developer's ability to rapidly deliver realistic, high performance flight simulation applications. The use of out-of-the-box software features, such as special effects and large area database management, allow for developers to spend coding time delivering on project requirements - rather than programming lighting effects or other subtleties delivered out-of-the-box by Presagis.
