MODELING & SIMULATION:
PROVIDING OUT-OF-THE-BOX INTEGRATION

IN THIS ISSUE
Share/Save/Bookmark

To help speed and ease the development of M&S applications, Presagis is committed to delivering software tools that provide feature rich out-of-the-box pre-integration and that interoperate with third party applications.

In this newsletter, we have included a demo video that can help you to learn more about the pre-integration of our tools and how you can leverage them to build a complete simulation environment.

You can also learn more about how our tools are used in the development of Maritime training applications and about one of our key technology partners that provides innovative network communication simulation technology.

INTEGRATED WORKFLOW \ BENEFITS OF PRE-INTEGRATION

We have developed a new workflow demonstration as a concrete example of how the full suite of Presagis COTS software tools can be used in the development of simulation applications – from content creation to scenario development and visualization.

Video Overview

Our technology blogger, Yannick Lefebvre, discusses how the Presagis tools listed below were used in an integrated fashion to enhance a terrain database area with a new building model as well as new vector data to represent the roads in that region. This new data adds an extra level of fidelity to the simulation by enhancing the visual rendition of the scenario, as well as allows entities to realistically navigate through the environment:

CUSTOMER SUCCESS \ VIRTUAL MARINE TECHNOLOGY

Virtual Marine Technology

Working with Creator, Vega Prime, and Vega Prime Marine, Virtual Marine Technology (VMT) developed its SurvivalQuest training solutions to eliminate risks and to ensure that lifeboat operators are prepared to launch in any situation.

Training lifeboat operators in real-world situations can be extremely dangerous. Taking inexperienced lifeboat operators out in harsh marine conditions can have disastrous consequences.  In an effort to keep both instructors and trainees safe, real-world training is often limited to calmer marine situations which do not always adequately replicate emergency response scenarios. As a result, lifeboat operators are put to sea without ever having experienced or prepared for the actual high sea conditions typically encountered during rescue situations.

The alternative to real-world training is simulated maritime training. The clear advantage of providing training through simulated scenarios is that instructors can safely immerse trainees in any number of the extreme conditions that they will likely encounter in the lifeboats. However, this can raise a challenge.

Developing a scenario for lifeboat rescue involves creating the hydrodynamic models required to accurately represent the performance of lifeboats in high sea states. And, in order to accurately depict the motion of a lifeboat in a variety of wave situations, lifeboat training scenarios require a level of mathematical complexity not found with flight or large ship simulations.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT \ SCALABLE NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES

Scalable Network Technologies

Presently, simulation systems operate on the assumption of perfect communications and do not take into account network priorities such as spikes in voice communication traffic which could interrupt and delay critical data and video streams – delays which could mean life or death in the battlefield.

Partnering with Scalable Network Technologies, the industry leader in network communication simulation, Presagis is bringing an enhanced level of fidelity to STAGE customers, and ensuring that simulation developers have access to the most robust and complete simulation toolset on the market.

With the advent of net-centric communications systems, warfighters and other security forces have come to depend on a lifeline of real-time voice, video and data information over ad-hoc mobile networks. That lifeline can be compromised by innumerable invisible threats, including environmental, technical and cyber-based factors. With the integration of QualNet as a “communication network effects” component, STAGE will provide cutting-edge communications realism to simulated scenarios.

  Scalable Network Technologies

Together these industry-leading products provide an out-of-the-box solution for highly complex simulation scenarios with real-time communications down to the entity level for simulated, distributed exercises involving multi-domain units and complex chains of command.

PRESAGIS AWARDS \ LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK!

Presagis Awards

Presagis is honoring the achievements of our customers and partners with a series of distinguished awards.  Presented annually at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), the Presagis Awards recognize the creativity and innovation made possible by our COTS software solutions for Embedded Graphics and Modeling & Simulation.

The deadline for submission is this Friday, October 29th, 2010.

PRODUCT NEWS \ LATEST RELEASES

Presagis is happy to announce the latest release of the following product.

SIM ONENET 1.3

A major new feature added to our Net-Centric interoperability software for Simulation:

  • SIM OneNet 1.3 now allows users to record and playback any network activity monitoring out-of-the-box. This allows to save and retrieve collected network data. The record and playback feature will offer functionalities similar to a VCR including recording, playback, and jumping forward or backward in the recording.
