    IN THIS ISSUE

In this issue of the Presagis newsletter we will bring you up to speed on how our customers and partners are leveraging our technology for success - as well as give you a glimpse into the events and and technology that were on display at the Presagis booth at I/ITSEC 2008.

Just one year after the launch of Presagis, we have begun demonstrating the value of our vision, Aeria, to provide an integrated COTS modeling and simulation software portfolio.  Our customers are helping us to drive this innovation forward and you can read more about some these amazing applications developed with COTS technology in this newsletter including:

  • An overview of the first annual Presagis Award Winners
  • A sneak peak at the 2009 Presagis Calendar,
  • Success stories about a tactical research facility in the Netherlands and a  project completed for the Ministry of Defense for a foreign government.

Finally, Presagis would like to send you our very best wishes for 2009.

We look forward to continuing to work with you in the New Year.

The Presagis Team

I|ITSEC \ technology vision takes shape

The months leading up to December are always busy at Presagis.  This year was no exception.  Presagis exhibited at the I/ITSEC trade show in Orlando, Florida displaying the latest in COTS software for the training & simulation market.

Aeria - It begins here

We continue to innovate and work toward delivering on the Presagis technology vision, Aeria .

At the show we demonstrated the STAGE / Vega Prime / AI.implant / DI Guy integration running with a CDB database back-end as well as presented everyone with a look at a Vega Prime / VAPS XT / Flightsim demo.

cdb_384

I/ITSEC attendees were also very interested in CDB and the CDB specification.  Over 140 people attended the CDB User Group meeting at the show while Presagis booth presentations on the topic were also very popular.

CDB was developed to help you manage the storage size, longevity, and scalability of your synthetic environment database as well as database correlation, confiugration management and database availability timeline issues.

If you are interested to learn more about CDB join the discussion forum by clicking here.  Also feel free to visit the CDB section of our website for more information or to download the specification.

Many of the exciting events that took place at I/ITSEC have been chronicled on the Presagis blog complete with videos and photos.  See the Presagis bus, as well as images of our booth.

customer success \ presagis innovation

Many of our customers have successfully developed and implemented training applications using Presagis products.  Here are just a few recent projects developed by some of our customers:

national aerospace laboratory \ tactical research facility

The National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR) of The Netherlands is an independent technological institute that carries out applied flight research simulations for the aviation and space sectors.  Its clients include national and international governments, large and small industries, and aerospace organizations.  NLR is a non-profit institute that has several specialized research facilities including its new Fighter 4-Ship. The Fighter 4-Ship is the evolution of one of NLR's existing facilities, the Generic Fighter Operations Research Cockpit Environment (GFORCE).  GFORCE provides high-end simulations in an extremely realistic cockpit environment and was developed with an emphasis on elaborate human factors and training experimentation.  The Fighter 4-Ship combines this full-mission simulator with mock-up derivatives.

nlr_384

As a result of this evolution, NLR has a research facility that, by allowing up to four fighter pilots to carry out joint missions in a virtual environment, can simulate collective tactical operations.  Focusing on interoperability and re-configurability, the Fighter 4-Ship enables research on fast-jet team operations and large-scale collective, combined, and/or joint operations.  And, like the GFORCE, the Fighter 4-Ship is not a training facility but a research facility, so it is able to validate new technologies as well as the best possible training methods for tactical operations.

nlr_03Then NLR began designing the Fighter 4-Ship, they had specific criteria regarding the flexibility, cost, and portability of the facility.  According to Michel Keuning, Senior Scientist at NLR "We wanted to keep the facility low-cost and mobile, which are both very important factors for conducting our research."

To meet these criteria, NLR employs Presagis Terra Vista for terrain creation and Presagis Vega Prime for sensor modules.  In addition, they also use SIM OneNet to link different simulations that use different communication protocols and Presagis Simulation technology to create scenarios for their applications.

TECHNICAL SERVICES \ ministry of defense visualization system

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) from a foreign government had a requirement to provide a visualization system based on COTS software products that could facilitate the generation of visualization databases for situational awareness.  This system would help them to increase productivity by shortening database production time, as well as to increase operational effectiveness, by allowing end users more flexibility in utilizing visualization databases for analysis than with previous approaches.

mod_384

To bring the broader benefit of this unified, versatile imaging solution to the various groups and users dependant on this data, the MoD embarked on the OBVIOUS (Operations Backing Visualization for Interactive Optimization of User Scenarios) Program; a system for creating visualization databases, coordinating and disseminating them to various end users and allowing multiple levels of interactive visualization for modeling and simulations applications.
