The Presagis booth highlighted our four areas of expertise - Simulation, Content Creation, Visualization, and HMI. Our talented and capable Application Engineers ran these product demos throughout the day, while Pierre Bernier treated visitors to larger scale demonstrations in our booth theatre.
Presagis flagship products demonstrated at I/ITSEC included:
Content Creation: Creator is the industry's leading software for creating highly optimized high-fidelity real-time 3D content
Terra Vista has the largest terrain generation install base consisting of thousands of customers
Simulation: AI.implant is a multi-platform artificial intelligence (AI) authoring and runtime software solution
STAGE Scenario allows non-programmers to build tactical database and simulate tactical or operational environments
HMI: VAPS XT offers unmatched control and flexibility in the design of dynamic interactive real-time HMIs for aircraft and automobiles
Visualization: Vega Prime is the most productive toolkit for real-time 3D application development and deployment
Lyra is a COTS image generator application delivering 60Hz performance that includes everything you need for immediate use
OpenFlight User Group Meeting
The OpenFlight User Group was held on November 27th, and was led by Doug Price and Steve Thompson. This session was a rare occasion for OpenFlight users to interact, share thoughts, and bounce ideas off one another. While many topics were addressed, some of the more interesting discussions revolved around the new extension palette and the current state of new development tools.
Presagis Launch Party
Presagis also hosted a party the following day at the booth. We invited show-goers to join us for refreshments and to take a few moments to get to know the company. Many visitors dropped by and this proved to be an excellent way for the Presagis team to meet and interact with our key contacts and customers.
All told, I/ITSEC was an incredible week for all of those involved. We look forward to seeing you at other events in 2008!
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with our sales team with any questions you might have.

Q&A\ M&S Technology VISION
In our last newsletter, we introduced a Q&A to address some of the questions we thought might be on our customers' minds. This time around we have asked our VP of Research & Technology, Nick Giannias, to discuss some key technology trends that Presagis is tracking:
What can Modeling & Simulation (M&S) software developers learn from progress in mainstream software development?
Mainstream software usability has progressed tremendously over the past years. For software developers in M&S, there are significant lessons to be learned from mainstream software, particularly with respect to its sheer number of users.
While there is a large market for M&S software, it does not currently benefit from improve the usability level of our software to be on par or better than the mainstream software to which we are all accustomed.
What impact do Artificial Intelligence and Serious Games technology have on M&S?
M&S applications are being used to make accurate and reliable evacuation plans, to test non-lethal weapons and crowd dispersal mechanisms, to simulate UAV aerial tracking, and to train for urban operations. Immersive fidelity is crucial for the quality of training that will save lives in the "real world."
Sophisticated AI delivers advanced decision making, intelligent path finding, and animation control to your simulation. And, because it can mimic behaviors and can offer crowd modeling and civilian modeling, AI also provides the human factor that is so essential for effective emergency response training.
Serious Games technology is at the forefront of AI development. By combining high-fidelity visuals with advanced immersive realism, Serious Games technology is critical for developing 21st century applications.

PRODUCT FOCUS \ terrain generation
At the core of many modeling and simulation applications is the terrain database which specifies the environment in which the event is taking place. It provides the fundamental building blocks for the simulation.
In today's complex simulation scenarios terrain databases must not only correlate with different visual runtime systems but must also correlate with other terrain databases. As a result the need for open standards, such as OpenFlight , Metaflight , TerraPage and more recently Common Database (CDB), are gaining mind share as the user community becomes more challenged in the generation of more and more complex scenarios.
Presagis is a pioneer in the area of rapid and correlated terrain database generation. Having worked hand-in-hand with clients for years to resolve complex terrain database challenges, Presagis offers a suite of software and standards to meet the demands of the terrain creation market.
What's New in Terra Vista 5.1
Support for OneSAF Terrain Format 6.0
Presagis recently released Terra Vista v5.1 update 3 which brings important new terrain generation capabilities to the market including support for the current OneSAF Terrain Format (OTF) 6.0. This allows Terra Vista users to generate terrain databases compatible with the latest version of OTF while also continuing to benefit from OTF compliance for any database they generate using Terra Vista.
Enhanced Transportation Module
A new optional module for Terra Vista was also included in this release. Enhanced Transportation Module (ETM) brings new road and bridge modeling capabilities, along with multi-state bridge and building model output, to Terra Vista for detailed urban terrain development.
Among many features, ETM allows users to automatically configure terrain to accommodate complex road networks, bridges, intersections, and other elements in the database in a realistic manner. ETM means significant time savings for Terra Vista users developing urban databases - days, or even weeks in many cases.
