Fisher Associates - Analytical Traffic Operations
Designers used Creator and Vega Prime to create a real-time virtual model of this unique interchange.
This virtual model of the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) at I-590 and Winton Road in Brighton, New York, was created by Fisher Associates PE, LS, PC. It shows a unique application that integrates analytical traffic operations to create a realtime virtual model. The DDI concept requires traffic to briefly drive on the opposite side of the road between the ramp intersections. The goal of the project is to introduce a unique interchange design that promotes intersection safety while meeting the demands for reduced congestion and infrastructure cost savings.
Fisher Associates used Creator and Vega Prime for the DDI project and also drew on wide variety of source material including traffic analysis output, CADD design drawings, vertical and horizontal alignments, terrain data, maps, photographs, and texture libraries. Both solutions were selected for their ease-of-use with Vega Prime offering the additional advantage of easy manipulation with C++.
