CS Communication & Systèmes - Ballistics and Aerodynamic Research Laboratory
CS selects Presagis STAGE for flexibility and interoperability.
Presagis STAGE software was selected as the foundation for the simulation platform that it has developed for the Ballistics and Aerodynamic Research Laboratory (LRBA) of the French Department of Defence's Délégation Générale pour l'Armement (DGA) . The DGA is responsible for the design, acquisition and evaluation of systems used to equip the French armed forces. CS selected STAGE based on the flexibility, openness and extensibility of the COTS product which enabled CS to seamlessly integrate a number of customized simulation modules and interfaces that were developed to meet their specific needs, while adhering to their tight timelines.
Development of the simulation platform began in January 2008. Three months later the first elements were delivered with the complete platform installed and operational within nine months. The solution, which is used to simulate intercontinental missile terrain and ballistic missiles models, has STAGE at its core and incorporates the various modules and solutions developed by CS including VirtualGeo 3D GIS for large database preparation, VisualSim for 3D visualisation of simulation and 3D visual extensions built to represent specific phenomena, broader environmental models, real meteorological behaviour as well as several statistics and analysis tools.
Only a COTS-based software with its inherent flexibility, scalability and ease-of-use could allow us to deliver such a mature solution in such a short space of time. We needed a product that would provide a solid, tried and tested foundation yet could also be easily interfaced with other software and customized according to the customer's requirements, and STAGE met all of these requirements. At CS, we bid for tenders regularly and will most definitely be using our rewarding experience with STAGE at the LRBA to offer innovative solutions for major new projects.
