AMST Systemtechnik GmbH specializes in delivering solutions for Aeromedicine and Aircrew Training. To help prepare pilots to overcome helicopter disorientation effects during human factors training, AMST’s Visualization Software team used Creator and Vega Prime to develop the Airfox DISO simulator.
The Airfox DISO is specifically designed to simulate night vision and spatial orientation effects for pilot training.
Working from videos and using Presagis solutions, AMST was able to develop high fidelity visual simulations for a variety of disorienting scenarios for helicopter pilots.
The simulator’s disorienting experiences include vectorial illusions over high grass that give pilots a false sense of movement, the brown-outs encountered when a helicopter hovers or lands on dirty ground, and the combination of vectorial illusions and visual disturbances that pilots can encounter over water.
