Bring Human Simulation to the Next Level

STAGE Now Includes Runtime Licenses of AI.implant and DI-Guy

STAGE users are now able to receive runtime licenses of Presagis AI.implant and Boston Dynamics' DI-Guy with each purchase of a STAGE license. This product bundling makes STAGE the first and only COTS CGF software product to ship out-of-the-box with artificial intelligence and human characters for the creation of lifelike simulations.

Out-Of-The-Box Artificial Intelligence & Human Representation

AI.implant related benefits

STAGE's AI.implant-enabled Mission Editor enables users to easily add advanced artificial intelligence to simulation applications and define detailed entity behaviors. These features can help the user to achieve greater realism in the creation of life-like urban environments and other scenarios in which the human factor plays a key role.

  • Leverage the following AI capabilities to enhance the realism of your simulations: Access pathfinding, obstacle avoidance, and wander behavior for all STAGE entities directly through the Mission Editor.
  • Visualize entity pathfinding and obstacle avoidance debugging information directly in the Simulation Manager (SM) tactical view.
  • Assign AI as a dynamic controller for a platform during scenario creation.
  • Run existing AI behaviors that were created in the AI.DE.
  • Generate AI contextual environment information for use in AI from the SM.

The advanced AI now provided with STAGE goes beyond typical road following and trajectory behaviors. For example, using the Mission Editor, an "AI.implanted" agent in STAGE can:

  • Activate or deactivate a named behavior associated with the agent.
  • Enter/Exit Buildings.
  • Navigate complex buildings (using stairs, reaching specific windows).
  • Assign Opponents.
  • Assign Agent Brain Template.
  • Perform obstacle avoidance and random direction and speed assignment using Wander Behavior.

DI-Guy related benefits

The DI-Guy software from Boston Dynamics gives users the ability to add realistic human characters to simulations running in a 3D Viewer that accurately simulates human stances and movements. The DI-Guy software also includes models for animals and specific vehicles.

DI-Guy is natively integrated with STAGE and a runtime license is now included out-of-the-box when the user purchases STAGE.  As a result, there is no need to code any integration with DI-Guy in order to benefit from DI.Guy and STAGE combined features:

  • Humans, animals, or vehicles can be defined as part of a STAGE simulation entity.
  • Within STAGE , the DI-Guy model dynamics can be driven by STAGE, AI.implant, or DI-Guy itself.
  • As with any other entity simulated in STAGE, DI-Guy entity states, including stand, kneel, crawl, prone or even the character's weapon positions stowed, deployed, firing, or position, are controlled directly from the simulation without the need for user intervention..
  • DI-Guy entity animation can also be controlled within the Mission Editor by specific interactions with the Character, Action, or Appearance structures.
  • Extra calls using the STAGE application programming interface (API) can be made to create even more detailed and customized character actions.

Extendability

STAGE can be extended through its API.  Because STAGE is not a black box application, the interactions between STAGE, AI.implant, and DI-Guy can be edited and expanded to add customer specific requirements in the form of additional behaviors and animation mapping.

AI.implant Software Development Toolkit (SDK)

AI.implant offers a set of visual authoring tools for creating AI characters and the AI world, including plug-ins for Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya.  AI.implant also offers Artificial Intelligence Development Environment (AI.DE), a standalone application for brain template authoring and debugging.

The AI.implant SDK (including tools) offers STAGE users a wider set of AI.implant capabilities.  It is available from Presagis as a separately sold product. Although not required to leverage the new bundling with STAGE, the AI.implant SDK offers the following extended tools:

  • AI.DE
  • Creator plug-in
  • TerraVista plug-in

DI-Guy Software Development Toolkit (SDK)

The DI-Guy SDK is a set of C++ libraries that enables the user to add realistic human characters to an application quickly and efficiently - without the need to develop characters in-house.  DI-Guy delivers everything the user needs to incorporate real-time simulated people so that the user can focus on the program's primary needs as opposed to time consuming low-level animation.
