VAPS XT Designer
VAPS XT Designer is an entry-level VAPS XT package targeted for the rapid prototyping, designing, and specification of HMIs in an interpreted runtime environment on a workstation. VAPS XT Designer is ideal for prototyping applications requiring high quality photo-realistic graphics, such as cockpit avionics and other complex HMI displays.
VAPS XT is an integrated development environment that allows you to
VAPS XT Developer
VAPS XT Developer contains all of the functionality of VAPS XT Designer as well as automatic code generation capabilities using CODE nGEN.
VAPS XT Developer is primarily oriented for the rapid prototyping, designing, specification, and deployment of HMIs on a PC workstation in both simulation and embedded development environments. Ideal for any applications requiring high performance and high quality graphics, such as cockpit avionics, VAPS XT Developer is especially suited for applications that will be retargeted to real-time, embedded target systems.
CODE nGEN allows you to rapidly produce executables that have been optimized for minimal memory footprint, minimal initialization time, and maximum screen refresh frequency. CODE nGEN applications have been ported to several types of hardware platforms (processor and graphics library), as well as to COTS and proprietary Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
VAPS XT Developer includes all of the components of VAPS XT Designer plus the following functionality:
VAPS XT for Embedded Systems
VAPS XT for Embedded Systems is a complete deployment tool that contains all of the capabilities of VAPS XT Developer as well as source code libraries, sample code, and utilities that facilitate the retargeting of VAPS XT HMIs to a variety of real-time embedded systems. Due to the optimizations provided by CODE nGEN, VAPS XT for Embedded Systems is ideal for the development of executables deployed within embedded systems with reduced memory capabilities.
VAPS XT for Embedded Systems provides all the components of VAPS XT Developer plus the following functionality:
New features and enhancements in VAPS XT 3.1 include:
Integration with SoftMap Digital Map Software
Integration with the SoftMap digital map software for the creation of applications with navigation maps directly in VAPS XT. SoftMap® is a product of General Dynamics, UK, used in generating platform independent software solutions for the display of multi-layered digital map, navigation, and terrain displays, as well as full tactical situation awareness systems. VAPS XT uses a new Digital Map object to manage placement of the digital map within an application. The Digital Map object is a container object which can contain Map, Intervisibility, Height-above-terrain (HAT), grid layers, two new Line Of Sight (LoS) layers, and VAPS XT overlays. An evaluation version of SoftMap is now provided with all versions of VAPS XT. To request a license for the SoftMap product, please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Support for Visual Studio 2008
Visual Studio 2008 is now required to use VAPS XT 3.1.
New features and enhancements in VAPS XT 3.0 include:
Further Code Optimizations - 15% Generated Code Size Reduction
VAPS XT executables will now be significantly smaller for the same application developed using the previous version of VAPS XT v.2.3.
OpenGL SC and OpenGL ES Support
VAPS XT 3.0 now includes a porting layer for each variant of OpenGL out of the box.
Drag & Drop of Images and Multimedia Objects
Users can now easily drag-and-drop images, videos and audio files into VAPS XT directly from Windows Explorer. The user can also drag-and-drop VAPS XT files from Windows Explorer using the same technique.
Dataflow Highlight
Now VAPS XT highlights the corresponding data flows for the selected object automatically.
New Debug Statistics Utilities
This is a set of utilities to help users measure the performance of their applications and identify areas that may not be optimized.
Dynamic Library Loading
Dynamic library loading is introduced to VAPS XT 3.0 to improve loading of built applications on the target system. The result is a built application that loads only what is necessary at the start-up of the application, while other elements are loaded on demand.
Record and Playback Enhancements
This feature provides additional flexibility when playing back recorded applications. The user now has the choice to playback recorded I/O buffer data while maintaining user interaction with the display or playback user interactions while receiving live I/O buffer data.
