Hello, I’m new to Vega Prime and just installed 4.0.0

From LynX Prime I tried Active Preview with any of the samples and it just sits at

How long does it sit?
There will be some time attributed to loading but not excessive.
Active preview does make a socket connection and that connection might be blocked depending upon how your OS is setup, software firewall, etc. Is there anything that could be blocking that aspect on your machine?

It sat like that overnight. I just installed VP3 and it seems to be working fine, but VP4 still does the same thing. I think that should rule out OS or firewall issues. This is what happens when I try to kill the cmd window LynX Prime launches for active preview.

Without a doubt, there is definitely something wrong with trying to make socket connection on this particular machine. Unfortunately, there is not enough info to really point to the culprit. You can try to see if you designate a different port if that changes things. On the Lynx Prime panel, you can go to Tools->Options and change the port for active preview. This may not solve the problem, but it is worth a try.

What is interesting is that the error is a WSA error detailing that the socket is not initialized. It seems that something more fundamental is the problem here. You can download simple socket communication samples/tutorials from the internet that use TCP sockets. It could be useful to see if those even work on that machine. Just a thought, but it could be worthwhile to try.
It would definitely help identify if the problem is a fundamental socket issue.
You can also try to run the vsgu sample for sockets (vsgu_notify_socket). This sample is very similar to running a sample/tutorial obtained from the internet given the low level usage with this vega prime sample.

Are you running Vega Prime 4.0 on ATI?  I installed 4.0 on my laptop (has dual ATI cards) this weekend. And I had the same issue.  Had to go back to 3.0.5
