Hello!  I’m new to the AI Implant for Creator.  My company just started working with it and I haven’t gotten a full training session to learn all its features yet.  I have a really simple question and I hope someone can answer it for me.  I also posted this on the AI Implant board but it seems very limited.

I have a terrain in creator with a number of buildings on it that are separate pieces from the terrain.  The buildings are all Buildings with interior that were constructed in Creator.  I was wondering if there was an easy way to cut the navigation mesh of the terrain so that it does not include the sections under the buildings.  I know how to set up buildings for proper navigation but because there is a navmesh underneath them the AI entities want to walk straight through the buildings.

What would be the best way to correct this?  I could cut the spots out that are under the buildings but the terrain is large enough that this is a significant undertaking.  I could also make the walls obstacles but I’ve been having some issues with the AI making the transitions into the buildings.  If there is a simpler way I would love to use it.  Thank you very much if you can help!

Do your buildings have footprints?  If so you can look into using the Project Polygons Tool.  It allows you to cut in the footprints into the terrain (Choose Cut and Flatten)  After you run the tool the footprint polygons are still selected, so now you should be able to simply delete them.

I am presuming that the buildings are sitting on the terrain of course.  If the buildings are not (yet) sitting on the terrain, you can use Project Objects to get the lowest corner of each to project down to the highest part of the terrain directly underneath.  You could then use the Project Polygon tool to ‘ramp’ up the dirt to the buildings.

Excellent.  Thank you so much.  I’ll try that out right now but it sounds like exactly what I need.  I’ll let you know if that does the trick.
