Again, in order to fully lock to your resolution as a design point, you may still need to pre-process imagery in order to get the right projections and power-of-two resoutions.

First And Foremost (and it shouldn’t be too terribly difficult) Rip out the nearest neighbor on that legacy GeoPaint tool or get rid of GeoPaint (at least for VT generation) altogether and use a nice bilinear or even let the user choose a cubic convolution.  Yes it takes longer but it looks better.  And then even if you do not pre-process the imagery, at least it will look a whole lot better.

Then yes - all you users need to chime in and beg for a better VT generator that allows you to use your costly imagery to its full potential and lock your design to that in a user friendly fashion.

Kenny - You’re There!

I’m set - i think other users might be interested in whether you can fast-track at least the incorporation of a better/smoother resampling filter in TV when using GeoPaint.  You know I’ve been vocal about it for over 18 months ... I think lot of users may have similar issues and just not realize it.

Then you can do a staged approach for overhaul to simplify the design process to be more imagery-focused 8*)  But for now - that one improvement would be universally useful.

I second this!!! It causes much headache on our end.

HI,

Feel I ought to add another ‘Customer Voice’ to this post.

Like Kent we use CTS for VT and then apply to the TV terrain - for two reasons:

1. For the superior quality we tend to achieve with this approach

2. For the ability to be able to independently control the high/low res areas of our VT, compared with high/low LODs of terrain. In TV the two seem to be very much linked, and there are occasions when we find it useful to segregate the two.

Improvements to TV in either of these aspects would be very much appreciated from our point of view.

Andy.

Hi,
Can someone update whether the image scaling filter was improved in the latest TV releases - 6.2, 6.2.1 ?

Thanks
Ev.

Hi Ev,
The Imagery resampling filter has not been changed with the 6.2 or 6.2.2 releases.  However, this remains something that we will be adding to the product in a future release.  Unfortunately, it has just been a lower priority than the other features we have been developing for TV 7.0.
