provider of realtime 3D visual simulation software solutions and Interactive Data
Visualization, Inc. (IDV) a leading provider of tree and plant solutions to the
modeling and simulation industry, announced today a partnership allowing
MultiGen to resell IDV's SpeedTree® solution as an integrated module within its
Vega Prime visualization product line.

SpeedTree echnology allows simulator systems to render visually compelling
trees and plants in realtime using Vega Prime. Usable on any pre-existing
system with off-the-shelf hardware, SpeedTree provides an easy and cost-
effective way to turn ordinary ground scenes into very realistic experiences.
"Incorporating more fidelity and realism into the environmental experience
within our product offerings is an on-going requirement," stated Sandeep
Divekar, President of MultiGen. "Our customers have been requesting we
provide a SpeedTree module, this is just another example of our product's ability
to integrate with leading products from partners like IDV to provide an overall

IDV CEO Chris King said the partnership will bring critical new benefits to Vega
Prime's large user base. "With SpeedTree's signature realism and natural wind
effects," said Mr. King, "Vega Prime will deliver more accurate motion cues, line
of sight interference and general atmospherics, ensuring better analysis, better
training and a more faithful representation of the real world."
The SpeedTree for Vega Prime module loads the procedural definitions, converts
the procedural definition into 3D geometry, computes LOD and leaf billboarding
based on the camera position, handles wind effects, and performs numerous
other tasks applicable to situations where high quality, three dimensional trees
must be rendered in real-time with optimal performance.
The module includes a tree library of 200 unique species of trees, plus the
SpeedTree CAD modeling tool to create new, or edit existing, tree models and
comes pre-configured to work with MultiGen's sensor capabilities (IR and NVG)
as well as round earth coordinate systems.
